Minister and Team
Minister
Reverend Nathalie Dürmüller was born in 1980 in Wil (SG) in Switzerland, where she lived until she left for London to work as an au-pair at the age of 19. After improving her French in Yverdon, she moved to Zürich to start her studies in Theology. She also studied in Neuchâtel and Tübingen and finished her studies back in Zürich with a thesis on the subject of: "What does it mean to believe? Melanchthon and Barth's understanding of faith compared with modern research into trust". In 2006 she began her practical training in Ostermundingen (BE). During that year she worked part-time for the Federation of Swiss Protestant Churches in Bern in the field of journalism and PR. She then gained more experience by taking over the ministry in Rheinfelden (AG) for half a year.
Organist
Dr Hilary Davan Wetton trained at the Royal College of Music and the University of Oxford, where he studied both the organ and conducting. His first professional post was as organist at Brixton Prison.
Since then he has been organist at churches in Kensington, Welwyn and Watford, as well as an assistant at St Albans Cathedral under the great Peter Hurford. For most of his career, however, he has been associated with some of Britain’s leading schools: Cranleigh, St Paul’s Girls’ School (where Gustav Holst was Director of Music), and most recently at Tonbridge.
Conducting has become his primary interest, particularly through long relationships with the Guildford Choral Society (since 1968), the Milton Keynes City Orchestra (since 1975), and the City of London Choir (since 1989). For 13 years he was also conductor of the Holst Singers which is widely recognised as one of the finest non-professional choirs in the country.
